JOHN JORGENSON

John JorgensonMulti-award wining guitar virtuoso, John Jorgenson is well known as a founding member of country/rock super-group, The Desert Rose Band, for his sizzling fretwork with award-winning guitar instrumentalist trio, The Hellecasters, from his six-year stint as a prominent member of Elton John's band, and his session work with a diverse range of artists including rock icons; Bob Dylan, Sting, David Lee-Roth, and Bob Seger, country legends; Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Emmy Lou Harris and Hank Williams Jr., and international superstars like; Barbara Streisand, Billy Joel, George Michael and Luciano Pavarotti.

Even with his eclectic history as a pop, rock and country artist, gypsy jazz is the style that's closest to Jorgenson's heart. John's love for jazz and swing music dates back to his youth when his father, James, was conducting for the Benny Goodman Orchestra. John, actually got to play with Goodman while his father led the way. As accomplished on clarinet as he is on guitar, Jorgenson's first swing recording "After You've Gone" was a tribute to both his heroes, Django Reinhardt and Benny Goodman. Released in 1987, John played Django style gypsy jazz on the first side of the LP and recreated the sound of the Benny Goodman Quintet, playing both Charlie Christian's electric guitar parts and Goodman's swinging clarinet style, on the other.

In the world of Gypsy jazz music, John Jorgenson has long been known as the true American master of the Django Reinhardt guitar style. In 2003, when acclaimed film director John Duigan sought a top-notch guitarist to play gypsy-jazz icon Django Reinhardt in his upcoming film, "Head In The Clouds" (starring Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz), Duigan could have chosen anyone he wanted for the role - he chose John Jorgenson. Why? Because you would be extremely hard-pressed to find a more qualified player anywhere else in the world as Jorgenson's 2004 release, "Franco-American Swing", a true musical masterpiece, clearly testifies.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Jorgenson has just released his new studio album entitled: “Ultraspontane”. He tours worldwide playing gypsy jazz with The John Jorgenson Quintet. John also performs in the UK and Ireland with his electric band, John Jorgenson & Friends, and continues to collaborate with other artists live and in the studio.

DON MESCALL

Don MescallRenowned Irish singer/songwriter, Don Mescall, connects with audiences through his intensely personal lyrics and raw honesty in delivery, with comparisons being drawn to the styles of Paul Simon, Damien Rice and Sting.

With his career still climbing rapidly, Don is already recognised as one of the leading lights in songwriting in Ireland, the UK and US. His songs have shone as international hits for a wide range of Folk, Pop and Country stars such as Ronan Keating & Kate Rusby, Lulu, the legendary Richie Havens, Frances Black and the multi-platinum American artist Neal McCoy. His most recent projects are soon due to flourish for Grammy Award winner LeAnn Rimes, best-selling Canadian artist Garou, and the band currently taking the world of Country music by storm, Rascal Flatts.

But it is as a live performer that Don Mescall truly shines. His delivery is highly charged with emotion, rooted in his Irish charm, humour and sensitivity. He is an individual who absorbs the complexities of life, feels its effects deeply and reflects that back with grace to touch an audience often in ways that they can’t readily comprehend. By reaching back with honesty into such harsh personal tragedies as the loss of his father as a young boy and a broken marriage in recent years, Don's songs range from story-telling vehicles of humanity at its most fragile to uplifting anthems of hope and spirituality.
